Olya talks on the phone on the way home. She lives far from center but her neighborhood has all the necessary facilities to live comfortably.
�y parents were drug users, so was my first husband. I started using drugs when I was 19. A couple years later I met Albina and got involved in working with Life . When my first husband was released from prison I didn't want to go back to the life I had with him. With the knowledge and self-respect I gained while working, I was able to make a choice. So I left him flat.�
A few months later she fell in love with the father of her child. Olya learned about her HIV in 2001 and has not yet started antiretroviral therapy since her CD4 T cells (required for the proper functioning of the immune system) indicator is high. She takes special medications during her pregnancy and with a caesarean section, the rate of HIV transmission to child is only 1%.
