Luciana studies during the night shift. This was her last day at school before going on maternity leave. The Brazilian government provides adolescent mothers a four month break from their studies. During this period teachers must send the girl's lessons to be done at home. Although Brazilian law supports such situations, most of the girls abandon the school due to motherhood. In the worst cases they abandon school as soon as they learn they are pregnant. Rio de Janeiro, 06/09/2005.
